Muriel Dean Laffoon

Born: February 06, 1920
Died: November 06, 2012

Muriel Dean Laffoon, 92, formerly of Tulsa, OK died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at her home in Denton, TX.
Mrs. Laffoon was born on February 6, 1920 in Beggs, OK to Charles T. and Sarah V. Jacobs. She and her two bothers and six sisters grew up in Beggs where the family farmed and ran a small general store; both of which were lost during the Great Depression and would forever shape her life. She graduated from Beggs High School and attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK. Muriel married Edwin Jack Laffoon, also of Beggs, on October 26, 1942 in Richmond, CA just prior to his shipping out to fight in WWII. After the war Muriel and Jack settled in Tulsa where they raised there only child and lived for most of their lives. She was a member of the Will Rogers United Methodist Church for over 50 years and also worked as a clerk for the Newspaper Printing Corporation while Jack worked for American Airlines. Even after her husband's death she clung to her independence and remained in the family home. However, when she could no longer drive, Muriel was forced to leave her beloved Oklahoma and move to Texas to be near her son. A decision she would soon regret as she asked to go back to Oklahoma every remaining day of her life. That peace has now come as she will be laid to rest next to her husband in Beggs on Nov 13th.
Mrs. Laffoon is survived by her son, Jack C. Laffoon and his wife Marites of Corinth, TX; sisters, Charlotte Lansford of Tuscon, AZ, Dorothy Isbell of Beggs, OK; grandchildren, Shannon Laffoon Glaser and her husband, Dr. Brian Glaser of Flower Mound, TX, Christopher C. Laffoon and his wife, Elizabeth of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren, Luke Glaser, Lexie Glaser, Joshua Glaser, Elliott Laffoon, Collin Laffoon. Only family members will attend the service for Muriel, however, anyone who has a favorite story or remembrance of her they would like read at grave side may forward it to her son
