Orion Dennis Barrett

U.S. Veteran

CWO III U.S. Army Retired, Orion Dennis Barrett, 88, of Nocona, TX, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Muenster Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 4, 1923 in Atlanta, GA to Orion Brite and Ruth Elizabeth (Barfield) Barrett. He was married to Virginia Searcy in 1940 in Atlanta, GA and she passed away on June 18, 1981, then he was married to Faustine (Tina) Margurite Greer on September 30, 1995 in Montague County, TX. He was retired from the U.S. Army serving in both WWII and Korean Wars, and was a Captain in the Texas State Guard. He served at the Denton Missile Base. Mr. Barrett is survived by his wife, Tina Barrett of Nocona; daughter, Dorothy Wood and her husband Michael of Bowie; sons, Richard Barrett and his wife Linda of Denton and Michael S. Barrett and his wife Barbara of Ricardo; sisters, Kathine Henry of Mableton, GA and Thelma Shead of Temple, GA; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Barrett. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 13, 2012 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. Rev. Lamoin Champ will officiate the service. A private family interment, with Full Military Honors, will be held at a later date at Trinity Cemetery in Denton.
